CodingNation: How EducNation Foundation Is Teaching Haitian Youth to Code
In a country where access to technology is limited and economic opportunities are scarce, learning to code is more than a technical skill — it is a pathway to a better future.
That is exactly what EducNation Foundation’s CodingNation program is designed to deliver.
What Is CodingNation?
CodingNation is EducNation Foundation’s flagship STEM training program for Haitian youth. Designed for students ages 10 to 18, the program teaches coding fundamentals, digital problem-solving, and technology skills that prepare young people for the 21st-century economy.
In a region where digital literacy rates remain critically low, CodingNation fills a massive gap. Students gain not just technical knowledge, but confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
Why STEM Education Matters in Haiti
Haiti faces a severe shortage of trained technology workers. While global demand for digital skills continues to grow, most Haitian students have had little to no exposure to computers, programming, or digital tools.
For youth growing up in underserved communities, the digital divide is real. Without intervention, an entire generation risks being left behind.
CodingNation bridges that gap — bringing hands-on STEM education directly to communities that need it most.
What Students Learn
Through CodingNation, students are introduced to block-based and text-based coding, web development basics, computational thinking, project-based teamwork, and real-world technology applications. Many graduates have gone on to build simple apps and inspire other young people to explore technology.
An Impact Story
“The CodingNation program gave my son skills I never had access to. He’s now building apps and teaching other kids in our neighborhood.” — Jean-Pierre M., Parent, CodingNation Program
